Cherokee has been developed for the production of high quality fruit in open field and shaded production. The medium-large sized fruit has a smooth surface and shallow shoulders and are bright red when ripe. Plants have a taller growth habit and are suitable for production in areas where Tomato spotted wilt is a problem and trellising is used. Cherokee has high resistance to Tobacco mosaic (TMV), Pepper mild mottle races 1, 2 and 3 (PMMoV: 1, 2, 3) and Bacterial leaf spot 1-3 and intermediate resistance to Tomato spotted wilt (TSWV).
